Change your settings¶
Settings let you choose how your budget is displayed and which optional controls appear. Open My Account, then select Settings. Choose a tab, make your changes, and select Save settings to apply them and return to the budget. Leaving without saving does not apply the changes.
Envelopes¶
Under Envelope sorting order, choose one or both options:

| Both | Keep categories alphabetical and use Next Expense order within each category. |
At least one option stays selected. These are your defaults; the same two controls on the budget screen let you change the current view. Sorting does not change which envelopes receive funding first.
Under Uncategorized envelopes, choose Above categories or Below categories for envelopes without a category. This affects views with Alphabetical enabled. For naming and grouping, see Create your envelopes.
Budget view¶
- Show category totals displays the Expenses, Targets, and Total amounts and labels on category bars. It is off by default. Collapsed category bars still show expense and target timelines when totals are hidden.
- Show minimum spending floors reveals the optional minimum-spend fields, details, and projected purchase indicators. It is off by default. Turning it off keeps saved floors but ignores them in projections; ordinary target-date and expense deductions still apply. See Minimum spending floors.
- Show checklist controls whether Checklist appears in the budget's top bar. Turn it on to bring the setup checklist back after dismissing it. Hiding the checklist does not remove your accounts, envelopes, or plans.
These preferences apply across your budgets. Displaying or hiding category totals and the checklist does not allocate money or record transactions.
Appearance¶
Choose Light or Dark under Color scheme, then save. This changes the signed-in app. The help site's light/dark toggle is a separate preference.
