Explore the funding forecast

Use the forecast charts to see how current funds would be assigned over time and which envelopes create the largest daily funding needs.

Below the envelope rows, select the chart icon beside Move Funds, labeled Available funds forecast. Choose Available funds or Daily funding pressure inside the dialog. The app remembers your chart choice in this browser.

Available funds

This chart starts with Available today: the amount available to assign before future funding. It falls as the projection allocates money to envelopes. It is not a chart of your bank balance or the dates money leaves your bank.

Move the Forecast day slider to read the amount available on a particular date. Average funds per day is the projected amount allocated divided by the calendar days from today through the last successful allocation day, including both ends. It is not a suggested daily spending allowance.

The summary can report:

Status Meaning
No funds available to assign The starting available amount is zero.
Funds exhausted Successful allocations use up the available amount.
Funding limit The next required allocation is larger than what remains.
No exhaustion projected The current plans do not exhaust the available amount.

For example, if the next allocation needs $33 and only $20 remains, that allocation does not receive a partial $20. The chart keeps the $20 visible and marks the funding limit. Left to plan reports $0.00 for that same shortfall, so the two displays can differ without an extra transaction.

Daily funding pressure

This chart answers how much funding the plans would need each day if enough money were available. It continues beyond the current funding limit, so you can inspect needs that the ordinary timeline cannot fund.

Move over the chart or use the Funding pressure day slider to inspect a day. The readout shows its funding total and the largest contributing envelopes. Expand All … contributors when more contributors are available.

The colored groups highlight five envelopes with the largest total funding needs, plus up to two others with the largest daily peaks. Remaining envelopes appear under Other. The groups stay fixed across the forecast, so colors keep the same meaning as you inspect different days.

A dashed line marks the current funding limit when one falls within the chart. A peak means the plan needs more funding that day; it is not necessarily a large purchase due that day. Use the envelope timeline and details to inspect the bills and targets behind it.

Keep the assumptions in mind

Both views use the current plan and exclude unrecorded future income. Paused envelopes do not request funding; hidden envelopes still do when their funding is enabled. The minimum-spending-floor setting also affects the projection.

The charts do not allocate money, record spending, or send payments. After changing an amount, date, or funding status, reopen the forecast to review the updated plan. Continue with Understand Left to plan.
